Azienda Agricola Rosso

PRESENTATION

The Rosso farm is located in the heart of the Cuneo plain, more precisely in the territory of Cavallermaggiore, between the fascinating and enchanting landscapes of the Langhe and the majesty of the Alps.

We have been involved in the cultivation and production of medicinal herbs for three generations: the first peppermint crops date back to the end of the 1960s. Subsequently, thanks to the development and growth of the market, new crops were introduced, including Roman Chamomile (Anthemis Nobilis) and Melissa (Melissa officinals).

These herbs are tended with patience, dedication and passion, before being transformed into essential oils by steam distillation. The distillation process was originally carried out using classic stills, which over the years have been joined by a more innovative method: the use of special trailers, which allow for a greater load capacity and therefore a reduction in production times!

The process of growth and diversification of our company has continued uninterruptedly (continued unabated) over the years, so much so that the production and distillation of medicinal herbs has recently been joined by the drying and trade of Roman Chamomile and Escolzia flowers (Escholzia californica Cham).

We have always worked in full respect of the environment and our goal is to obtain high quality essences and aromas. The essential oils of our company are 100% natural products and comply with international standards.

MELISSA

Roman Chamomile

Chamomile relieves spasms and pains, facilitates digestion and is invigorating on the liver.

It is used for the treatment of insomnia, anxious states and stress, for toothaches and headaches, for muscle pain and neuralgia, also known for its calming properties.

Roman chamomile essential oil is characterized by a warm, herbaceous and slightly floral scent, soothing, decongesting and dissolving tensions. In fact it is one of the best essential oils to work on psychosomatic problems. Facilitates the “digestion” of anxiety and stress, stimulating and improving liver function, loosens diaphragmatic blockages, facilitating their relaxation and the expulsion of retained and compressed air due to anxiety and nervousness. Chamomile essential oil, as anticipated, is an exceptional remedy for insomnia, it assists sleep and thanks to its subtle energy it favors dialogue with dreams, making it easier for the dialogue between one’s self and its inner guide. As far as the body is concerned, chamomile essential oil works on all the problems of the digestive system. Bisabolol has demonstrated bactericidal and antiulcerous activity capable of preventing damage from stress and alcohol. Thanks to its soothing and relaxing properties, it is indicated for decontracting massages. Indicated for circulatory problems, telangiectasias, and tissue poisoning due to excessive muscle tension. Added to calendula macerate it is an excellent preparation for baby skin care.

Peppermint

The “mint”, well known since the time of the Egyptians and Romans, was used by Galen as a medicinal plant.

In medicine it has digestive functions, stimulant of gastric functions, antiseptic and antispasmodic, toning; decoctions and infusions can be prepared.
According to some, it would be inadvisable to take it in the evening because it could cause sleep disturbances. Furthermore (according to the theories of homeopaths) it should be avoided if you are undergoing a homeopathic cure because it would reduce the absorption of homeopathic preparations.

It has contraindications such as gastroesophageal reflux and gastric ulcer and the use of the essential oil must be avoided in subjects with severe liver disease, renal insufficiency and favism.

In the kitchen it is used in soups, sauces, meat, especially for cooking lamb, for preparing liqueurs, syrups, sweets. Peppermint candies are widely used for their taste and their ability to freshen breath and soothe sore throats.
Widely used to flavor some varieties of green tea: typical Maghreb green tea.
Menthol is extracted from mint, which is an ingredient in many perfumes, cosmetics, medicines and is even used to flavor cigarettes.
It should be noted that these properties are limited to some species of Mint.

Melissa

Melissa officinalis is known for its medicinal properties and is also highly appreciated as an aromatic herb and for the preparation of refreshing infusions with a citrus flavor (which has earned it the name of “cedronella”). The parts used are mainly the leaves, but also the flowers and stems, collected immediately before or during flowering.

It has been widely used in past centuries, in specialized preparations such as, for example, the spirit of lemon balm, called “antihysterical water” because it is particularly useful for calming nervousness in young women. “According to the theory of signatures, Melissa is the Venus plant par excellence, that is, a medicinal plant for female ailments.

In fact, known since the Middle Ages for its antihysterical and sedative properties, it is capable of curing gastric disorders and nausea from hyperexcitability, amenorrhea and dysmenorrhea of psychic origin”.

In phytotherapy, the leaves of lemon balm are mainly used but also the flowers and stems.
